PGCE Weekly Reflections

Hello!

Welcome to my blog about my journey into becoming an English teacher.

During my first PGCE week, we have been asked to write weekly reflections during our PGCE year. Primarily, this is a blog for myself – a tool for me to look back on and both see how far I’ve come (hopefully) and also for revision. I will also, on the occasion, write a book review or post some of the resources I have either made or come across.

I will be keeping this blog totally anonymous, for obvious reasons, but I am excited to begin and hopefully share some of my thoughts about becoming a teacher.

A bit about me…

I have known I wanted to go into teaching for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until sixth form that I knew it was English teaching I wanted to do. It sounds like a bit of a cliche, but this was all down to one of my English teachers supporting this idea, and allowing me to shadow a few of her classes in my free periods. I then went on to gain a first class bachelors degree in English and English Language, and have taken three years to travel and also do a bit of work experience in schools to ensure that this is something I definitely want to do.

Now here I am! Three weeks into my PGCE English course and I am excited to see what the future holds.
